(12/16/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan plans to quit the band. The Irish singer told Hot Press magazine that after she has finished promoting the band's greatest-hits album and video collection, she will move on and does not expect to record another Cranberries album.
O'Riordan told the publication, "The boys need some freedom for a while." The vocalist also added that she's interested in exploring world music for a solo project influenced by Middle Eastern or African sounds.
The Cranberries released Stars--The Best Of The Cranberries 1992-2002 in September, followed by a companion DVD set of videos in November.
