Trick Daddy Explains The Miami Sound
03/07/2001 12:00 PM, Yahoo! Music
(3/7/01, 12 p.m. ET) - Miami-based rapper Trick Daddy is set to release his new album, Thugs R Us, on March 20. "Take It To Da House," the first single from the new set, is currently at Number 53 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.
Trick Daddy recently explained to LAUNCH what makes the Miami sound distinct from that of other Southern locales. "I guess it's their vocabulary, is more country, but our vocabulary is more ghetto, is more Southern, is more slang," he said. "You know, we ain't as much country. Then ain't too many cities in the world where you have Haitians, Cubans, Columbians, Puerto Rican, Africans, Jamaicans, and Caucasians. You ain't gonna find too many cities in the world like that, and we grew up in it, where we might have five Haitians in my classroom, five Jamaicans, you know? Miami is like the America to a lot of minorities."
