(1/16/01, 12 p.m. ET) - Tommy Boy Records, which present chairman Tom Silverman started in 1981, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with several album reissues. The Jonzun Crew's Lost In Space and Planet Patrol's Planet Patrol are the first two titles on the reissue roster, released today (January 16). Reissues from Queen Latifah, Force M.D.'s, Stetsasonic Information Society, Coolio, and Digital Underground are also forthcoming in the series.
Series developer and coordinator Steve Knutson explained in a statement why Tommy Boy decided to reissue its classics. "Our 20th anniversary is an opportune time to repackage and revamp our vast catalogue of influential music. Since the majority of these releases were previously only available on vinyl, the idea was to make this classic material available for today's CD buyers."
