(5/28/99, 1 p.m. PDT) - American fans of Echo & the Bunnymen just can't catch a break. First the band's latest album, What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?, was delayed in the U.S. due to record company politics (LAUNCH, 3/11). The album, which was released in April in the U.K., will finally arrive in the U.S. on June 22 on London Records. Now the U.S. tour in support of the album has been postponed.

The trek, which was to kick off on June 4 in Toronto, was to run through June 29. According to a statement released by the band's press representatives, the dates will be "rescheduled due to additions to the band's lineup as well as a recording session of new material for a greatest hits record to be released later this year." The Bunnymen already have one hits collection available in the U.S., 1985's Songs To Learn & Sing.

As for the Bunnymen's lineup, singer Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant are the only remaining original members of the band. The U.S. tour will mark the group's first American trek without bassist Les Pattinson, who left the band during the first day of recording What Are You Going To Do With Your Life?. Drummer Pete de Freitas, who died in a 1989 motorcycle crash, has not been permanently replaced.
