(5/28/99, 1 a.m. PDT) - Motown R&B trio 702 has no intention to spend the summer on vacation. Kicking things off June 10, Kameelah, LeMisha, and Irish will perform the National Anthem and a halftime concert during the Los Angeles Sparks WNBA season opener. The concert at the Forum will feature songs from the act's upcoming self-titled sophomore set, which will be released June 15. The first single, "Where My Girls At," was written and produced by Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, who was also responsible for the band's blazing top 10 debut single "Steelo." Producers Rick "Dutch" Cousin, Soul Shock & Carlin, Warryn Campbell, David "Pic" Connelly, Greg Charley, and Anders Bagge also worked on the follow-up. Named after the area code in its hometown of Las Vegas, 702 are also making a name for themselves in the TV realm. The gals recently appeared in the Brandy and Diana Ross TV movie Double Platinum. They also made cameos on Sister, Sister and Moesha, and sing the theme song for Nickelodeon's Cousin Skeeter. Working with Brandy twice has paid off, as the perky songstress has added 702 to select dates of her U.S. tour, which kicks off June 18 in Camden, N.J. (LAUNCH, 5/28). Like Brandy, the girls also have an itch for modeling and just signed a modeling contract with the Wilhemina Modeling Agency. The trio won a Soul Train Lady Of Soul Award for best album by a group in 1997. The group's debut album, No Doubt, went gold and produced two top 10 singles. To read a Brandy feature, click here.
