(6/15/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Mermaid Avenue Volume 2, the sequel to the Grammy-winning, Woody Guthrie-inspired Mermaid Avenue, is currently in stores, and co-writer Billy Bragg says fans may see it live this fall.

LAUNCH asked Bragg about future touring plans. "In the fall -- and hopefully I'll have an opportunity to bring my band and work to integrate it with Wilco where we'll be out, do a set each, and do a Woody Guthrie set," he said. "That's what I'd really want to do and that's what we're trying to work towards."

Bragg, Jeff Tweedy, and the rest of the fellows in Wilco seem to be into doing a tour, as Bragg told LAUNCH. "Yeah, they're kind of into it. . .I wish I had some firm dates to tell you when it might be. But I haven't seen them in a couple of months. I'm hoping to see them in the next few days. We're getting together in New York City to do Letterman, and hopefully we'll have some ballpark dates after that."

Bragg and Wilco appear on The Late Show With David Letterman on Friday (June 16).

Mermaid Avenue Volume 2 was actually recorded during the same sessions as the first album, except for four songs from co-writers Wilco. The project was inspired by literary passages from folk legend Woody Guthrie.
