(6/14/00, 6 p.m. ET) - With the Los Angeles Lakers currently in search of an NBA championship in Indianapolis, So Cal rockers Lit took over the team's home court at the Staples Center on Tuesday (June 13) for a raucous performance as part of the party for the premiere of the sci-fi animation flick Titan A.E. Actors Bill Pullman, Tom Green, and Drew Barrymore were on hand, as were producer Glen Ballard, members of Powerman 5000, Urge lead singer Steve Ewing, rap hero Tone Loc, and several thousand others. Lit cranked out five songs, including its most popular tune, "My Own Worst Enemy," and the new "Over My Head," the first single off the Titan A.E. soundtrack, which arrived in stores last week. Project producer Ballard tells LAUNCH that, among tracks by Powerman 5000, the Urge, Luscious Jackson, Jamiroquai, and others, it was the recording of Lit's "Over My Head" that proved the standout experience. "I sorta followed them around while they were on tour to finish the recording, from Boston to New York to Kansas City to L.A. It was fun. I mean, it's not the usual way I do a record and it [was] all the more special for that, you know?," he says. Lit left Los Angeles soon after the performance to resume its tour with No Doubt in Cleveland tonight (June 14). The bands play Baltimore on Thursday (June 15). Titan A.E. debuts in theaters across the country on Friday (June 16). It features the voice-over work of Matt Damon, Bill Pullman, and Drew Barrymore, among others. -- Neal Weiss, Los Angeles
