Saliva's Josey Scott On 'Hero' And Spider-Man

Jerry Armor

(5/9/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- One of rock's current hottest songs, "Hero," appears on the soundtrack to one of the hottest movies around, Spider-Man. The soundtrack, which debuted at Number Four on the Billboard 200, includes the hit featuring Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron, and Saliva frontman Josey Scott. It's currently moving up the Billboard Modern Rock chart.

"Hero" was also going to feature former Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, but when the all-star project entered the studio, Cantrell had to go to the funeral of his friend, drummer Randy Castillo.

Scott told LAUNCH about the video clip for the song. "We recorded the song and had to record the video back to back because we all had full schedules so we jumped in this airplane hangar," he said. "Nigel Dick built this rooftop inside an airplane hangar with a green screen and everything it was really cool and we filmed the video. Matt Cameron had to go home as well so we used the drummer for Our Lady Peace (Jeremy Taggart) in the video we used Chad's brother (Mike Kroeger) for bass, and (Theory Of A Dead Man's) Tyler Connolly played lead guitar in the video with me and Chad."

Spider-Man: Music From And Inspired By also features songs by Sum 41, Alien Ant Farm, and the Strokes, among others.
