(1/14/02, 3 p.m. ET) -- Adam Ant, known for the 1982 hit "Goody Two Shoes," was arrested and charged with assault and carrying a firearm after an incident at a London nightclub. Ant, real name Stuart Leslie Goddard, was charged on January 13 with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and one criminal damage charge and one assault charge, according to Scotland Yard spokesperson Sarga Sharma.
Sharma described the incident to LAUNCH. "At approximately 21 minutes past 11 on the 12th of January 2002 police were called to reports of a disturbance at the Prince Of Wales pub. The suspect is understood to have caused damage to the premises before threatening members of the public who are understood to have been inside the public house with what appeared to be a handgun. A short time later a man fitting the description of the suspect was seen by officers on Hawley Street and a man in his 40s was arrested."
Ant was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on January 18.
