Jill Scott, Nelly & Mystikal Take Home 'Soul Train' Awards

(3/2/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- Grammy nominees Jill Scott, Nelly, and Mystikal may have left the Grammys empty handed, but each received an honor at the 15th Annual Soul Train Music Awards, which are broadcast on Saturday night (March 3).

Scott's Who Is Jill Scott? Words And Sounds Vol. 1 received the best female R&B/soul album award. Nelly received the best R&B/soul or rap new artist award, and Mystikal's "Shake Ya Ass" video was deemed the best R&B/soul or rap music video.

The evening's top winners included R. Kelly and Jagged Edge who both won two awards. Kelly received the best male R&B/soul single and best male R&B/soul album for "I Wish" and TP-2.Com, respectively. Jagged Edge took home the best R&B/soul album by a group, band, or duo for their album J.E. Heartbreak, and the best R&B/soul single by a group, band, or duo honor for "Let's Get Married."

Dr. Dre's Dr. Dre – 2001 was named the best R&B/soul or rap album of the year. Yolanda Adams's "Open My Heart" received the best female R&B/soul single award, and Mary Mary's Thankful garnered the best gospel album award.

Additionally, Destiny's Child and Jay-Z received the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for female and male entertainer of the year. However, multiple category nominees Carl Thomas and Eminem did not receive any Soul Train awards.
