(7/8/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Record label pressure for the completion of Ozzy Osbourne's upcoming solo album has forced the "regrettable" cancellation of a planned series of post-OzzFest dates with the singer's famed group, Black Sabbath, according to a spokesperson for Osbourne. "Epic Records has insisted that he return to the studio after OzzFest to finish his solo album," the spokesperson told LAUNCH.
Epic Records spokespeople were unavailable for comment regarding the situation.
Osbourne's yet-to-be-named solo album is due October 16. The singer's backing band includes guitarist and longtime cohort Zakk Wylde, former-Suicidal Tendencies/Infectious Grooves bassist Robert Trujillo, and ex-Faith No More drummer Mike Bordin. The effort is being produced by Tim Palmer (Robert Plant, David Bowie's Tin Machine, Kajagoogoo).
Sabbath was to tour the East Coast in the middle of August, bringing Disturbed along as the opening act. The seven-gig tour was to begin on either August 14 or 15 and extend to August 24 or 25. Cities affected include New York City; Scranton, Pennsylvania; Hershey, Pennsylvania; Buffalo, New York; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Saratoga Springs, New York; and Columbia, Maryland.
Meanwhile, OzzFest arrives Monday (July 9) in Camden, New Jersey.
