Cake Plans Secret Gigs To Support 'Comfort Eagle'

(7/6/01, 12 p.m. ET) -- Cake will ramp up for the release of its fourth album, Comfort Eagle, due July 24, with a series of small-club gigs under assumed names. When and where remains to be determined, but Cake members John McCrea and Vincent DiFiore have some ideas about what name might read on the marquee.
"Well, we were gonna use Sport Riot," DiFiore tells LAUNCH.
McCrea adds, "No, I think we should use something else."
DiFiore continues, "We could use the name of the album."
McCrea adds, "That's true, too. Well, we'll figure something out. Probably if you see a really strange band name that isn't necessarily a flattering band name, it might be us."
DiFiore continues, "Or a title of a song from the album." McCrea adds, "Yeah, maybe. Something like that."
