(12/1/02, 7 a.m. ET) -- Sunday (December 1) is World AIDS Day, which is celebrated to deliver messages of compassion, hope, solidarity, and understanding about the disease to every country. Members of Jimmy Eat World, and 311 shared their thoughts on the AIDS crisis.
Jimmy Eat World vocalist Jim Adkins told LAUNCH what people can do to prevent AIDS. "It starts with you. I mean, prevention just starts with you taking care of your business, watching out for yourself. I think if everyone kind of...It doesn't take much, just some common sense. Be responsible. It's not that difficult a thing, you just...You do it."
311's S.A. Martinez and P-Nut told LAUNCH that the fight against AIDS is far from over. Martinez said, "Everybody has to got to get clued in and, you know, it's something that you shouldn't be scared of. Because with positive thinking, I think anything can be cured. And that's just another thing that with a way of thinking--modify your behavior as well--will help." P-Nut added, "It's just all education and being able to talk about it. It's not anything people should be worried about. If it's a moral problem, people need to get their head out of the dirt and realize you'll be saving lives if you wear a condom. It ain't that hard. I'd wear a suit of armor to get laid."
