(7/3/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- Hootie & the Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker wanted his video for "Wild One" to show another side of his personality. The song is the first release from his solo R&B debut, Back To Then, out on July 30 on Hidden Beach Recordings.
As opposed to Hootie's adult alternative rock fare, the video for "Wild One" captures Rucker in a down-south setting, hanging out with family and friends. LAUNCH asked Rucker to compare the "Wild One" video to those he's recorded with Hootie.
"This video, I mean, we are so much known as the frat boy rockers with the hats and the jeans and the T-shirts. And that was great when I was 27 and 28, you know. And this is a video where--not that I'm grown up and an adult now--just that is a different...Kinda like when everyone talks about how much Madonna reinvents herself. It's not so much reinvents, every invention. I'm just saying that it's another side, you know. This is where I'm at right now, and let's listen."
Rucker and the rest of the Hootie & the Blowfish members are currently working on a new album.
