Britney Chills In The Tub With Otis Redding
02/15/2002 12:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Jerry Armor
(2/15/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- Otis Redding's unforgettable hit "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" entered the Billboard top 10 this week in 1968. Within a month, the song began the first of four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
Sadly, Redding would never enjoy the fruits of his labor, as the song was recorded just three days before the singer's death in a plane crash in 1967. "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay" would go on to win two Grammys: best R&B male vocal performance and best R&B song.
Redding's music continues to impact the artists of today, as pop phenomenon Britney Spears--whose new film Crossroads opens nationwide today (February 15)--tells LAUNCH. "I listen to Otis Redding a lot. I love him, man," she says. "I think he's just awesome, and there's nothing better than putting him on, and getting in the tub, and lighting some candles--just chillin'."
