Tyrese Holds Tree Lighting Ceremony Over Weekend

(12/21/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- R&B singer Tyrese is scheduled to hold the Watts Foundation Christmas Tree Light Ceremony tomorrow (December 22) at Ted Watkins Park in Los Angeles. LAPD Police Chief Bernard Parks was also expected to attend.
For the afternoon event, Tyrese was expected to arrive dressed as Santa Claus riding his character's bike from the John Singleton film Baby Boy. The day was to include a toy/gift giveaway, Watts Christmas tree wish, tree planning ceremony, and tree lighting ceremony.
"The goal of the Watts Foundation first annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is to bring a quality holiday event to the city of Watts that is comparable to other more affluent communities," a spokesperson for Tyrese said via a statement.
Sponsors for the event include United Airlines, American Airlines, Nike, Skechers, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Los Angeles mayor's office, the office of Maxine Waters, the office of Juanita Millender McDonald, the office of Janice Hahn, Lock High School's Drama Club, and SNA Creative Cuisine.
