Angie Stone & Tony Toni Tone Alum Show Up For Saadiq Photo

(11/2/01, 1 p.m. ET) -- Former Tony Toni Tone and Lucy Pearl member Raphael Saadiq plans for the album cover booklet for his solo debut Instant Vintage, due out next year, to feature group shots of the musicians and singers who participated on the album. Singers Angie Stone, Calvin Richardson, and Tony Toni Tone alum Timothy Christian participated in the photo shoot which took place at Enterprise Recording studio in North Hollywood Wednesday (October 31). Charles Veal and the South Central Chamber Orchestra, and conductor and arranger Benjamin Wright were also featured in the shoot.
The album is also expected to feature collaborations with T-Boz of TLC, D'Angelo, and Organized Noize. Saadiq said Instant Vintage takes his sound to new heights. "The music will always stay soulful until the day I die, but with this record you can expect a more gritty, dark and light sound, meaning it will have more of an underground vibe," he said via statement. "This record is shaping out to be riskier and funkier than anything I've ever done."
This year, Saadiq has produced songs for Babyface, Ginuwine, Isley Brothers, Kenny Lattimore, Joi, Angie Stone, Macy Gray, and TLC.
