(6/6/02, 5 p.m. ET) -- Jay-Z will headline the 15-date Sprite Liquid Mix tour that kicks off in mid-August and features Los Angeles's alternative rockers 311 as the co-headliners.
Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella family members Cam'ron, Beanie Sigel, and Freeway are also expected to join the tour, as well as Hoobastank, N.E.R.D., Nappy Roots, Talib Kweli, and other groups to be announced.
Darryl Cobbin, Sprite's vice president and brand director, said the tour brings together people "who appreciate authentic expression free from boundaries." He added, "This tour recognizes peoples's thirst for expression--where everyone has the opportunity to experience and participate in various forms of self-expression everyday. We at Sprite say, 'Obey your thirst,' whatever your thirst happens to be."
In addition to the musical entertainment, the six-hour event will include full-court basketball, an urban playground with street-type skaters and BMX bikers, a giant canvas displaying works of local urban graffiti artists, an urban fashion show, a video gaming area, and a music mixing station led by local DJs.
The event is a collaborative effort between Sprite and Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
