Lit Sets 'Atomic' Album Tracks

(8/8/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Lit has set the track listing for its upcoming album, Atomic, due October 9 from RCA Records. The Orange County group will include 13 tracks on the effort, among them the bonus track, "Over My Head," featuring Aerosmith's Steven Tyler on background vocals. The song originally appeared on last year's soundtrack to Titan A.E.

The complete track listing is: "Something To Someone," "The Last Time Again," "Addicted," "Lipstick And Bruises," "Everything's Cool," "Happy In The Meantime," "Drop D," "Sunny Weather," "Next Time Around," "Slip," "She Comes," "Live For This," and the bonus track, "Over My Head."

Lit frontman A.J. Popoff tells LAUNCH that Atomic is not a drastic change from what fans heard on the group's 1999 success, A Place In The Sun. "For the most part it's maybe a little more of an extreme version of some of the songs on the last one," he says. "The poppy songs are a little more over-the-top and, you know, with the heavier songs being heavier. But, I think overall it's not really like, I don't think we invented anything new, we didn't reinvent ourselves and we just sort of did what we knew how to do and when with, like, songs that were, you know, the kind of music that we're good at playing."

Noticeably absent from the listing is the group's version of Aretha Franklin's "Chain Of Fools." Lit had originally included the song but is now saving it for another use, possibly as a B-side, according to a group spokesperson.

First single, "Lipstick And Bruises," makes its play for radio beginning August 20. Meanwhile, fans can hear "Last Time Again" playing over the end-credits of American Pie 2, which is due in theaters Friday (August 10). However, the song does not appear on the soundtrack.
