Lajon Of Sevendust On Vibe Of Forthcoming Record

(12/26/00, 7 a.m. ET) - Sevendust has about 10 songs written for its next album, and the band road-tested them just before the holiday break. Singer Lajon Witherspoon told LAUNCH he'd like to have at least 20 songs going into the recording process. As to what kind of vibe the next album will have, Witherspoon said it's yet to be determined.
"I can't say that right now, because Sevendust [does] change, and we write so many different tunes," he explained. "Right now there's probably about 10 tunes already, but we want to at least come to the plate with 20. So, the next 10 could probably be a whole different vibe of music, just depending on what kind of moods we're in.
"I don't want to necessarily say I can catch the vibe," he added, "but I can say that it's more melodic."
Witherspoon is still cleaning up wrapping paper after spending Christmas with his daughter. After that, and a weeklong break, the band will get on with the process of writing a follow-up to Home.
