(8/11/00, 12 p.m. ET) - Earth, Wind & Fire had to cancel a concert Wednesday (August 9) at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver when the band's sound equipment overheated, the band's spokesperson confirmed.

The temperature was record-high 98 degrees in Denver, and even though Earth, Wind & Fire was at the venue and ready to go on, the show had to be canceled.

Approximately 50 family members and friends of lead singer Philip Bailey, a Denver native, were in the audience. The band members were said to be very upset at the cancellation, and the show will be rescheduled.-- Lucy Tauss, New York
