Pete Yorn Joined By R.E.M.'s Buck In Studio

(9/12/02, 4 p.m. ET) -- R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck joined Pete Yorn in Yorn's Los Angeles studio Wednesday (September 11) to add parts to the singer-songwriter's next album.
Yorn tells LAUNCH, "I had Pete come down today, he played some mandolin and he played some 12-string Danelectro guitar. He played some really nice parts so we have to sift through it and see where we're gonna put it and all that. But he's such a nice guy, it was really cool of him to do that," he says.
Buck was in Los Angeles for a concert with his side band, the Minus 5. Coincidentally, the Seattle pop-rock group is featured on the various-artists collection, Trampoline Records Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, from the new Trampoline label founded in part by Yorn and the Wallflowers' Rami Jaffee.
This is not the first time Buck has collaborated with Yorn--he also performed on the single version of "Strange Condition," from Yorn's Columbia Records debut Musicforthemorningafter. A DVD single of the track, complete with multiple versions of the video, will be in stores October 1.
