The cover of Slipknot's new album, titled Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses), features a mask that doesn't belong to one of the nine members of the band. This new mask was designed by the band's percussionist and conceptual artist, Clown, according to MTV.com. Clown, whose real name is Shawn Crahan, is preparing a version of the mask that the band's fans, also known as "maggots," will be able to purchase and wear at forthcoming Slipknot concerts. There's no word yet on an exact date for the mask's arrival.
Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) hits the streets on May 25. The first single, "Duality," is scheduled to arrive at radio stations by April 19. The band shot a video for the track in their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, in March.
Slipknot is slated to co-headline the second stage of Ozzfest this summer. The band is currently headlining the Jagermeister Music Tour, which ends on May 14 in Sacramento, California. They will play in New York on Monday (April 12) and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Tuesday (April 13).
The band will be the featured musical guests on NBC-TV's The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Monday, May 17, at 11:35 P.M. ET.
