Dido found herself the recipient of a Grammy Award nomination last week for "White Flag," the first single from her latest album, Life For Rent. Dido told LAUNCH that she spent a long time writing "White Flag," which was inspired by some initial lyrics that her brother and coproducer Rollo Armstrong presented to her.
"I spent quite a long time trying to think what I was writing the song about, and then I just sort of, I ended up sort of writing it about that sort of feeling about unrequited love and sort of bad timing," Dido said. "It's really just about really loving someone and not telling them, 'cause you think it would get sort of messy if you do."
Dido has been spending most of her time lately tending to her seriously ill father in London.
Life For Rent has sold more than five million copies worldwide and nearly a million in the U.S.
Dido plans to tour in 2004.
