Beck/Flaming Lips Mexico Show Derailed By Mother Nature
11/05/2002 6:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Jerry Armor
(11/5/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Beck and the Flaming Lips cancelled a show at the World Sound Festival in Acapulco, Mexico on Saturday (November 2) due to the actions of Mother Nature. "A tornado blew the stage apart before Beck Lips were able to play, so no go for Acapulco," Beck's official website reports (beck.com).
"Beck Lips" refers to the current tour configuration, which finds the Flaming Lips serving as Beck's backing band. The groups were making a special appearance in the Mexican city after wrapping up the first leg of a North American tour.
The pair is scheduled to begin the second leg of the tour on November 12 at the Bass Concert Hall in Austin, Texas.
Beck is touring in support of his latest album, Sea Change. The Lips' current album is Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, also issued this year.
