(7/26/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Jack Johnson's October headlining tour will include support from one of his favorite acts, G. Love & Special Sauce. The veteran group is currently confirmed for shows in the California cities of Santa Barbara (October 10), Los Angeles (October 11), San Diego (October 12), and Berkeley (October 18).
The friendship dates back to the days of when Johnson was making his surf films, long before scoring a hit on modern rock radio with "Flake." He used G. Love's music in a movie and the relationship developed quickly from there, culminating in Johnson's own song, "Rodeo Clowns," being the first single from Love's 1999 album, Philadelphonic.
Johnson tells LAUNCH, "He was out here recording his new album and was excited to meet us because he really liked the film that we had put his music in, and we really wanted to meet him (because we) just digged on his music. We got to go surfing and ended up coming in and I showed him some of my music and he showed me some of his new songs. And then he just invited me into the studio and we just went in to goof around for a day and the next week it was gonna be on the record and then it was the single off the record."
Johnson currently has nine shows scheduled in October. He is touring in support of his debut album, Brushfire Fairytales.
