Sister Hazel On 'Change Your Mind'

(7/14/00, 10 a.m. ET) - Sister Hazel recently released its new album, Fortress--a tale from two songwriting perspectives. One had the band giving in to the pressure of trying to equal the success of Somewhere More Familiar, and the second had to do with a new way of looking at their situation. That's where "Change Your Mind" came in. Singer/guitarist Ken Block told LAUNCH that the song, the first single, goes a lot deeper than flip-flopping over a decision. "That's part of the reason that I wrote the first single, 'Change Your Mind,'" he said. "I can get really locked up and hyper-focused, and sometimes live in my head a lot more in a direction I don't want to go. But I really believe that you can change your reality just by changing the way you think about something. And I would have these little blips where I would feel a lot better just because I stepped to the right and looked at something from a different perspective. And I really believe you can change your whole life and change your world and your reality--just change your mind." Sister Hazel is on a brief break from the road, but they'll be back out on tour starting July 21 at the Roxy in Atlanta, Georgia. Darren Davis, New York
