Buckcherry, The Sequel -- 'Louder, Faster, Funner'

(4/13/00, 4 p.m. ET) - Buckcherry has written a new set of tunes and will head into the studio on May 8 to record a follow-up to its brisk-selling self-titled debut. The album will be produced by John Travis, best known for his studio work on Kid Rock's Devil Without A Cause and Sugar Ray's Floored and 14:59. Buckcherry guitarist Keith Nelson tells LAUNCH that the sophomore effort will rock even harder than its predecessor. "Record number two is going to be exactly where record number one left off. And it's gonna just pick up speed; it's gonna be louder, faster, funner," Nelson explains. "We're really excited about it. It's certainly not gonna be one of those over-thought kinda things. We're gonna get in and get out and get back on the road, and hopefully be out this summer." But will working with producer Travis mean the album will have a hip-hop vibe to it? "Absolutely no f--king way," says Nelson. "No turntables, no seven-string guitars, no shorts." But he does suggest one possible change. "We haven't recorded naked yet, so that's gonna be the next step," Nelson jokes. -- Neal Weiss, Los Angeles
