(11/3/99, 12 p.m. ET) - Neo-soul crooner Chico DeBarge released his sophomore album, The Game, last week to rave reviews. The first single, "Give You What You Want (Fa Sure)," is already No. 9 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart, and the video--directed by Billie Woodruff--is in heavy rotation on BET and The Box. The first verse to the song, which was co-written by singer-songwriter Rahsaan Patterson, gets straight to the point with its sexual content: "Baby, baby let's take our time/Cause if we gonna do it, might as well do it right/Lock the doors, turn off the phone/Shut the windows, cause girl it's on." During a recent interview with LAUNCH, DeBarge playfully owned up to the sexuality of the song. "Yeah, it's sex," he said with a laugh. "Yeah, I don't know where all this sex stuff is coming from. I got a lot of respect for sex. That's the answer." Patterson shared his sentiments on DeBarge and the song. "Nice guy," he said. "He and I co-wrote his single that's out right now, called 'Give You What Ya Want (Fa Sure).' I co-wrote that with him, a couple of months ago, with Soulshock & Karlin, after I worked with them for my album. It's nice." The Game also features collaborations with Joe, Brian McKnight, Bobby Brown, Doug E. Fresh, Andrea Martin, and Chico's oldest brother, El DeBarge.
