(11/27/97) - Atlantic Recording artist Poe is a big believer in the future of theInternet. Speaking at the 19th annual Billboard Music Video conference in Los Angeles, Poe detailed her passion for the Net, and offered her vision of what the medium would allow her to do in the future. "It's very easy to spend time talking," Poe said of her Net chats. "I was exposed to so many creative people." Poe's fanclub, the Angry Psychotics, meticulously track her adventures with online diaries, photos and reviews. "At this point, they're better organized than most major corporations," she said. "At every show, there's someone with a digital camera in the front rows. And they have reviews of every show posted online." For the future, Poe envisions a time when the Net will help her distribute music and musings to her audience that may not click with the masses. "I have very broad tastes in music," she said. "What if I wanted to put out a jazz record? Strange things happen at 4am in the studio. Maybe it's not something you'd want to distribute on a mass level. But fans would be fascinated by it."
