Fleetwood Mac's Second Hand News

(11/21/97) - As Fleetwood Mac continue to sell out arenas and scale charts with their hot-ticket reunion tour and accompanying live album The Dance, Atlantic Records' imprint Lava--the same label that brought you last year's Schoolhouse Rock tribute album--is preparing to release a Rumours tribute next year. Performers on the tribute include Tonic ("Second Hand News"), the Cranberries ("Go Your Own Way"), Jewel ("You Make Loving Fun"), the Goo Goo Dolls ("I Don't Wanna Know"), Matchbox 20 ("Never Going Back") and even Elton John ("Don't Stop"); Shawn Colvin is tentatively slated to contribute a version of "The Chain" as well. Overseeing the whole project is the Mac daddy himself, Mick Fleetwood, who still needs to assign "Dreams," "Oh Daddy" and "Gold Dust Woman" to three other artists (he was unable to use the version of "Gold Dust Woman" that Hole recorded for the Crow 2 soundtrack, as Miramax films wouldn't grant him the rights).
