(4/13/00, 12 p.m. ET) - Elektra Records is assembling the soundtrack album for the forthcoming Jim Carrey movie, Me, Myself and Irene. The movie is slated for a June 20 release and the soundtrack is due June 13. The tracklist for the compilation includes a slew of Steely Dan covers, but a spokesperson says the inclusion of that band's music is not plot related -- it's just that the movie's producers are big Steely Dan fans. Brian Setzer told LAUNCH that he is contributing a big-band version of one of Steely Dan's classic hits. "'Bodhisattva' -- they want me to do a big band version of that. So I said, 'That could work. That's challenging.' It's challenging to write your own stuff to make fit, but to make something else fit, it's tough," Setzer explained. "It's fun." Other Steely Dan covers on the set include Smash Mouth's "Do It Again," Nash Kato's "Midnight Cruiser," Ben Folds Five's "Barrytown," and one by Wilco
, among others. The Offspring will have a brand new song on the soundtrack, which will also feature "The World Ain't Slowin' Down" by Ellis Paul and "Deep Inside Of You" by Third Eye Blind. Me, Myself and Irene is a Farrelly Brothers picture and the plot focuses on Carrey's character, a fellow with a multiple-personality disorder. Renee Zellweger plays the titular "Irene" character. -- Darren Davis, New York
