Counting Crows Frontman Adam Duritz On The Who

(6/28/02, 6 p.m. ET) -- Counting Crows will still play four of the five dates with the Who that they were originally scheduled to play, specifically July 1, 3, 4, and 6. Singer-guitarist Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey made the decision to press on with their tour on Friday (June 28) following the death of bassist John Entwistle, who was found dead in his Las Vegas hotel room on Thursday (June 27). The Who has now enlisted the help of bass player Pino Palladino for the tour. Earlier this year LAUNCH asked Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz his thoughts on the Who's legendary career. "I mean, the Who are phenomenal," said Duritz.

"I think ballplayers should play ball after their prime," he added. "I think people should make records forever because, you know, this isn't about our perception of them. It's not about how you feel about seeing Willie Mays get old, or how you feel about the fact that (the Rolling Stones') Voodoo Lounge may or may not be as good as Exile On Main Street. It's like people's lives--there's no mandatory retirement. As long as someone finds satisfaction in their work, they should do it."

The Counting Crows will join the Who on Monday (July 1) at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles; on Wednesday (July 3) at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California; on Thursday (July 4) at the Autowest Amphitheatre in Marysville, California; and on Saturday (July 6) at the Gorge Amphitheatre in Seattle (George), Washington.
