Dirty Vegas To Tour With Moby

(6/27/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- Riding the wave of its hit single, "Days Go By," British electronica-pop trio Dirty Vegas will embark on its debut North American tour next month as the opening act for Moby. The group will play 15 shows with Moby, beginning July 14 in Dallas. More dates are expected in the coming weeks.
The tour with Moby will allow Dirty Vegas to further expose U.S. fans to its blend of dance and rock music. Dirty Vegas DJ and keyboardist Paul Harris tells LAUNCH that getting the public in the States on board is more of a challenge than overseas.
"America seems to be more divided than Europe for the whole dance-rock thing because your radio stations will only play rock, or only play dance. In Europe, a radio station will play anything that's good. So, it's good that we're appealing to more of a dance and rock audience because our music has words, songs--not just instrumental stuff. So people can understand it," he says.
First popularized in a television commercial for Mitsubishi cars, "Days Go By" has propelled Dirty Vegas's self-titled Capitol Records debut album to the upper-reaches of the Billboard 200 album chart. The release made a surprise debut at Number Seven two weeks ago and now stands at Number 15.
