Des Moines, Iowa-based extreme rockers Slipknot have been barred from staging a hometown concert at the 7 Flags Event Center in nearby Clive City, according to TheIowaChannel.com. The Clive City Council voted 3 to 2 last Thursday night (April 1) that the group could not hold the Tuesday, April 27 show at the venue. Council members said they had nothing against Slipknot, but had to enforce an ordinance barring noise permits for the Event Center on a weeknight.
More than 30 Slipknot fans showed up at the Council meeting to voice their support for the band and the venue.
Local resident Connie Schmidt complained about the noise from the Event Center: "We cannot sit on our deck and carry on a conversation when bands are playing." Other residents spoke up in favor of the show.
Slipknot is currently headlining the Jagermeister Music Tour with opening acts Fear Factory and Chimaira. The tour hits Winston-Salem, North Carolina, tomorrow night (April 6), and Norfolk, Virginia, on Thursday (April 8).
