Pete Yorn Finds His 'Strange Condition'
04/08/2002 1:00 PM, Yahoo! Music Mark Armstrong
(4/8/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- Pete Yorn's latest round of headlining dates takes the Los Angeles artist to the heartlands tonight (April 8), with a show in Lawrence, Kansas; followed by gigs Tuesday (April 9) and Wednesday (April 10) in the Missouri cities of St. Louis and Columbia.
This time out, Yorn has another single to showcase--"Strange Condition," the third from his debut album, Musicforthemorningafter, following "Life On A Chain" and "For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is)." A new version of the song, featuring R.E.M.'s Peter Buck on guitar, can be found at Number 34 in its eighth week on the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart.
Yorn tells LAUNCH that he knew that "Strange Condition" was a keeper soon after recording the original version. "'Strange Condition' was written kinda like halfway through the process of making the record. I'd worked with a bunch of producers and I remember we'd brought in this guy Brad Wood and that was the first song that we recorded with him and it turned out cool," he says. "To me, the song's just about kind of finding yourself in a place that you don't want to be. I think it's set in the backdrop of relationships. You know, it's a fun song, I like it."
Yorn's solo dates extend through April 19. He then hooks up with Weezer for the support slot on its latest tour.
