(12/19/01, 6 p.m. ET) -- Rancid and Green Day are the latest additions to the lineup for the still-untitled Ramones tribute album, set to be released this spring. Other confirmed acts on the compilation include Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Offspring, and the tribute album's producer, Rob Zombie. Vedder and a few of the artists have already completed recording tracks for the album. Others are slated to hit the studio after Christmas and New Years. Metallica's appearance on the collection couldn't be confirmed at press time.
Earlier this year Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told LAUNCH that "the Ramones have influenced anything...from like watered-down Alternative rock to the most hardcore punk rock band you can think of. They have pretty much influenced everything that could come after them. If it wasn't for them my band wouldn't exist. They're one of those bands that definitely had a direct influence or impact on the way we even look at songwriting."
