Incubus Shoots Politically Charged Video

The video for "Megalomaniac," the first single from the new Incubus album A Crow Left Of The Murder, is a provocative clip that makes the band's political leanings very clear, according to MTV.com. The video applies the term "megalomaniac" itself, which is defined as a person with delusional fantasies of power and omnipotence, more or less directly to George Bush.
The five-minute video uses slogans such as "Operation Freedom Control"--a takeoff on "Operation Iraqi Freedom"--as well as a shot in which a film is shown titled "The United States Air Force Presents... Brain Washing," which leads to a series of war scenes.
In another sequence, a politician resembling Bush addresses a crowd of protesters holding antiwar signs. The politician's head morphs into the head of a bald eagle as he begins to devour the audience members, whose own heads become those of fish. Ultimately the "fish" revolt and topple the politician's podium, which has turned into a giant gas pump, before bringing down the politician himself.
Yet another shot shows a family feeding a baby a bottle full of oil. While the video seems almost certain to cause controversy, singer Brandon Boyd says he's not worried about any potential criticism of the band. "There's really nothing you can do about it," Boyd said. "People are going to perceive you the way that they choose to, and it's going to range, depending on where you are in your career, or you're not in your career, for that matter. So for us to try and, like, control it, and/or get too riled up about it, would be sort of neither here nor there. It's just there's no point."
A Crow Left Of The Murder, the fifth album from Incubus, is due out on February 3. The video is expected to surface sometime this month.
