(7/16/03, 7 a.m. ET) -- Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland is due in court on Friday (July 18) in Burbank, California to face charges of narcotics possession. MTV is reporting that the judge delayed Weiland's scheduled appearance from last Friday (July 11) because the singer was still in a Florida drug rehabilitation center. It was the second time his appearance had to be continued.
Weiland, who has a history of drug related arrests dating back to the mid 1990's, was most recently nabbed in Burbank, California on May 17, when police stopped the car, driven by 29-year-old Jennifer Lynn Sires, for driving without its headlights turned on. During the routine stop, police spotted drug paraphernalia in the car and arrested Weiland and Sires. Weiland was released after posting $10,000 dollars bail.
Meanwhile, rollingstone.com is reporting that Velvet Revolver--featuring Weiland on lead vocals--will release a live EP on October 7. The songs were recorded during a June 19 performance by the band.
