Ashanti Says Beyonce Is Cool

(7/17/03, 12 p.m. ET) -- R&B singer Ashanti edged out Beyonce Knowles for the second consecutive week to continue her stronghold on the Number One position on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The singer beat out the Destiny's Child front woman by selling 135,000 copies this week compared to Beyonce's 132,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
Beyonce did exact some revenge on urban radio this week where her lead single, "Crazy In Love" featuring Jay-Z, holds the Number Two position with more than 3400 spins while Ashanti's "Rock Wit U" is Number Six with 2800 spins, according to the urban Radio & Records National Airplay charts.
While the two singers battle it out on the charts, in real life they are happy to co-exist. Recently, LAUNCH spoke with Ashanti who said that she likes Beyonce's vibe. "I met Beyonce, she's real cool,” says Ashanti. “You know, we didn't really get a chance to really kick it or whatever, but I met her and met Kelly. They're just real cool. You know I met her for a brief second—Beyonce--but like she got a cool vibe about her. She seems cool."
