(10/20/99, 1 p.m. PDT) - Meat Loaf was scheduled to sing the National Anthem on Monday (Oct. 18) prior to the start of the New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys game, but was sidelined with either food poisoning or a mild case of the flu, according to a spokesperson for the singer. The group Barrio Boys filled in on short notice for the ailing singer. In spite of the setback, Meat Loaf made a speedy recovery, which should allow him to appear on Late Night with Conan O'Brien tonight as scheduled. Meat Loaf's new live album, Storytellers, was released on Sept. 14 in the U.S. In addition, he is featured in the film Crazy In Alabama, which opens Friday (Oct. 22) nationwide. He also appears in the No. 1 box-office hit Fight Club, which opened Oct. 15. The singer's Storytellers Tour is scheduled to kick off Oct. 30 at the Palace, Albany, N.Y. -- Jason Gelman, New York Got news tips, comments, or questions? Send them to newstips@launch.com.
