A label spokesperson for Evanescence says a report on teenmusic.com about the relationship between singer Amy Lee and departed guitarist Ben Moody is "unfounded." The report includes speculation that the two shared an on-and-off romantic relationship up until recently. The label spokesperson said, "Across the board, personal relationships of artists are their private business. In the case of Evanescence, the article by teenmusic.com is unfounded and ultimately highly unprofessional."
Moody abruptly left the band and flew home last month during a European tour. There's no word on whether he will rejoin the group, whose debut album, Fallen, was recently certified triple platinum.
Regarding the guitarist's exit, the teenmusic.com article quotes Lee as saying, "We're all still trying to figure out what's going on with him. He left the tour, that's all we know. I haven't spoken to him and he hasn't spoken to me or anyone else in the band."
Lee is also quoted as saying that Moody "has some issues," and is "very unpredictable, there's no way of knowing what he'll do from one day to the next."
Evanescence is scheduled to appear at the 31st annual American Music Awards, airing live on ABC-TV at 8 p.m. on Sunday (November 16). A U.S. tour is scheduled to kick off on November 21 in Tucson, Arizona, with dates through December 7 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
