(7/11/02, 12 p.m. ET) -- Travis drummer Neil Primrose could return home from France in a few days, following injuries sustained from a swimming pool accident on Sunday (July 7).
Band manager Ian McAndrew told the Scottish Sun that the 30-year-old musician bumped his head after diving into the pool at a hotel in the town of Belfort. Primrose suffered head injuries and what doctors suspect is a broken vertebrae.
Other members of the Scottish band helped pull the unconscious Primrose out of the water and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
"Fortunately for Neil, his friends and colleagues were on hand to give him assistance and one of our crew is medically qualified," McAndrew said. "He was able to assist Neil directly and immediately and help take him to hospital."
McAndrew said that while he's in a little bit of pain, "Neil is making a good recovery" at a French hospital and is looking "a bit chipper."
"The doctors are obviously keeping a cautious eye on his progress, and we are looking forward to making arrangements to bring Neil home in the next few days," he added.
Primrose has admitted that the incident could have been "a lot worse" if he had struck his head a different way while diving into the pool
Travis has cancelled two shows in Lucca and Rome, Italy; another in Carhaix, France; and an appearance in Dublin, Ireland.
