Hungary Police Probe Liza Minnelli Show

Police said Monday they were investigating possible fraud committed in connection with the cancellation of what was advertised as a Liza Minnelli concert.
More than 70 concertgoers complained to police that no one at the concert venue offered refunds for the tickets even though Minnelli did not perform, police spokesman Endre Kormos said.
Concert organizers announced a day before last Saturday's concert that Bonnie Tyler would perform in Minnelli's place.
Police said they would investigate whether Minnelli had indeed canceled her performance or whether the concert organizers could be charged with fraud, Kormos said, suggesting Minnelli might never have been engaged to appear.
Only a few hundred tickets priced at 10,000 to 35,000 forints (US$50-US$175, 40-140) were sold for the event.
Last month, organizers announced that the concert was being moved to the 14,000-capacity Kisstadion from the original venue, the Ferenc Puskas Stadion, which seats almost 70,000.
A Web site for Minnelli's official fan club made no mention of her Budapest concert, listing concerts in Atlantic City and Atlanta as her only July appearances.
