Canadian punk act Sum 41 will serve as the backup band for rapper Ludacris when he performs his single, "Get Back," on the January 22 edition of NBC-TV's Saturday Night Live, according to MTV.com. Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley said, "We had originally planned on recording a track together about three or four years ago, for the Spider-Man soundtrack, but our schedules could never connect. So when we heard about the opportunity to back him up, we said 'yeah' right away."
Whibley added that Sum 41, who are currently on a month-long tour of their home country, will probably play the song during their encore as a way of rehearsing it for the show.
Whibley also promised that the performance will be a memorable one: "We've always loved Ludacris, because he's so smart. He realizes the humor in everything he does. We're going to make it awesome. It'll be funny, but it'll be great too. This isn't just some, like, screw-off thing."
Sum 41 also served as Iggy Pop's backup band on a track called "Little Know It All," from his most recent album, Skull Ring.
