Five new songs will highlight an
upcoming retrospective covering the solo career of bluegrass
fiddler Alison Krauss.
"A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection" is due April 3 via
Rounder.
"You're Just a Country Boy," "Jacob's Dream," "Simple
Love," "Lay Down Beside Me" and "Away Down the River" join 11
other tracks from Krauss' career outside her group Union
Station.
Among them is a cover of John Waite's '80s hit "Missing
You" with Waite himself, and the Oscar-nominated soundtrack
contributions "The Scarlet Tide," "You Will Be My Ain True
Love" and "Down to the River To Pray."
The album is rounded out by collaborations with Brad Paisley ("Whiskey Lullaby") and James Taylor ("How's the World
Treating You," from a Louvin Brothers tribute album).
Krauss and Union Station will return to the road for a
spring tour, beginning April 21 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The group
will also play the annual Merlefest on April 28 in Wilkesboro,
N.C.
Krauss is the most successful female artist in Grammy
history, winning 20 awards, seven for her solo work and 13 with
Union Station.
