Rufus Wainwright will release CD and
DVD souvenirs of his live, song-for-song interpretation of Judy
Garland's 1961 concert at Carnegie Hall next month.
The double-disc "Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall" CD is
culled from his June 14, 2006, show at the New York theater.
The DVD "Rufus! Rufus! Rufus! Does Judy! Judy! Judy! Live at
the London Palladium" comes from his February 25, 2007, concert
at the English venue. They are due December 4 via Geffen.
Both sets contain the 27-track re-creation of Garland's
famed performance, with a 36-piece orchestra accompanying on
tracks like "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart," "Over the
Rainbow" and "Puttin' on the Ritz."
The DVD includes three additional tracks: "Hello Bluebird"
featuring Garland's daughter Lorna Luft, as well as "Someone to
Watch Over Me" and "Everytime We Say Goodbye," both featuring
Wainwright's mother Kate McGarrigle.
Wainwright is scheduled to tour in Europe through early
December and will play a handful of dates in the U.S. right
before Christmas. His most recent studio album, 2006's "Release
the Stars" (Geffen), debuted at No. 23 on The Billboard 200.
