Although the coveted platinum prize has constantly eluded Redman, he has maintained a strong fanbase and is generally regarded as one of the tightest MCs. Now, after three gold albums, Funk Doctor Spock a.k.a. Redman has come up with Doc's The Name 2000, showing you just why he's one of the best in the game.
The opening cut, "Let Da Monkey Out," will kick in this uncontrollable urge to nod your head, and some of the interludes will leave you in a laughing fit.
He really displays his skills on "I Don't Kare" where he explains why he's not really concerned with being the most commercially successful artist.
The production is full of that funk that you expect from Redman, but it doesn't stop him from hitting with a little surprise like the Roni Size-produced "I Got A Secret," as well as "Jersey Yo" which is influenced by Ice Cube's "Once Upon A Time In The Projects."
If you like real hip-hop, this is a must-have.
