Wake Up And Smell The Coffee

Dolores O'Riordan gave birth to her second child and it made her very happy. In turn, it has made her band turn upward as well. Whatever angst might have settled under the surface has been swept clean and in its place a jubilant spiritual quest in is place. Producer Stephen Street is back at the helm and he's helped craft an album that comes jumping out of the box like a Viagra-ated kangaroo. One of the few times O'Riordan turns downcast is when she thinks of the world her little ones will be inheriting. The cautionary "Time Is Ticking Out" sneaks in the very unsongwriterly word "Chernobyl." Nice. But mostly, she sounds like John Denver appreciating the sunshine on her shoulder and getting happy over it. "La ah ah, the greatest moment," she sings with genuine enthusiasm during "Analyze." Should someone tell her, "But, Dolores, I live in fear," this Dolores would only laugh and sing her cares away. She's sneaky like that.
