Corporate America

It's always surprising to learn who isn't happy with the state of the world. You'd think a guy who's sold tens of millions of records and whose songs are permanent staples on commercial radio would think to himself, "Hmmn, this system works out pretty good. The yacht needs a better wet bar, but all things considered, it's a good world." But Tom Scholz, the main architect behind BOSTON--The Band That Makes Practically the Same Album Every Eight Years, doesn't like the corporate structures that allowed him to succeed. They made him rush-release the band's second album and lawyers were busier than the band for many years. Scholz learned the hard way how some people say "thanks." He's working with original singer Brad Delp on half the cuts here and he still puts songs together with the sturdy, timeless quality of a Chevy Truck: "With You," "Didn't Mean To Fall in Love," "Livin' For You." In these undependable times, you can depend on Boston. Every eight years.
